I live in South Shropshire and work from my studio at home. I have been interested in textiles for many years and made my first quilt in 1984 using Laura Ashley fabrics. I made quilts in this way for many years, then in 1996 I went to Westhope College and did a two year course in preparing working designs and patchwork and quilting part one with Linda Kemshall, both were City and Guilds courses and I received a distinction from Westhope College. I carried on studying part two with Marie Roper and I can only say this all changed the course of my life, my hobby turned into an obsession, which is the title of a talk I give to quilting groups.I make textile hangings using machine and hand stitching. I love colour and this is very important to me in the development of my work. I have exhibited my work at major shows and have had two exhibitions, Sew Inspired and Sewing Solo. My work has been featured in magazines,The Quilter, Patchwork and Quilting, Popular Patchwork and the latest being in the Quilts Japan magazine. I also have textiles in private collections and do workshops and 6 years ago I founded Abermule Quilters. Eight years ago Batiks n Beads was born and I sell on -line, at exhibitions and visit quilt groups with lovely batik fabrics from Bali and beads from Japan, we also sell Stef Francis threads and hand dyed felts and scrim. I feel very honoured to be part of our wonderful quilting world.
